The Weekend Read No. 32
Let the distractions begin!
It’s been a busy week of recording the podcast and trying to stay focused on the bright spots these days. Here’s a few…
FILM
If you’re wondering who the audience is for every Jennifer Lopez rom-com ever made, well, I’m sitting right here. Glad to see her having some smoochy times with Brett Goldstein. I honestly need one of these movies every Saturday night to keep me sane.
BOOKS
Whistler
by Ann Patchett
I love her writing and I love that Seth Myers had her on Late Night. I would like to host a late night tv chat show called Books, Lately. It’s just authors. It’s basically my podcast but with a Kelly Rippa monologue at the top and then I have three authors on a Graham Norton-type couch. With wine. Maybe a musical guest if I’m feely salty. Who would like to finance that show? Anyone? Until that happens, I guess Brett Benner are reading this book together and will have a FaceTime coffee klatch to tide me over.
MUSIC
Sara Bareilles // ‘Home’
The first track from the forthcoming album has arrived. Remember how it made Anderson Cooper cry? If I can’t get tickets to her concert dates somewhere I will be the one in tears next..
TELEVISION
You’re Killing Me
Acorn
Authors and murder - the most classic of all combos. I’m enjoying this so shall keep at it.
THE PODCAST
My newest episode as part of the Pride month pack - gabbing with my friend, Tom Rob Smith about his new novel which is out now in certain parts of the world with more to come soon…
Bon weekend, all!
