The Weekend Read No. 19
Let the distractions begin!
It’s a Wuthering Heights weekend and we’re just living in it. I’ve not read the book, seen the film or heard the new soundtrack but apparently two of those three things are 1000% worth it. Happy Valentine’s y’all!
BOOKS
The Last Kings of Hollywood: Coppola, Lucas, Spielberg—and the Battle for the Soul of American Cinema
by Paul Fischer
Celadon Books
The untold, intimate story of how three young visionaries—Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, and Steven Spielberg—revolutionized American cinema, creating the most iconic films in history while risking everything, redefining friendship, and shaping Hollywood as we know it.
Fischer has an article in The Hollywood Reporter about the book and his research - asking the important question about these chaotic Hollywood days and which filmmakers and producers will take up the torch and break new ground for the art form.
FILM

TELEVISION
It was very sad to lose James Van Der Beek this week. As the tributes roll in, it’s the perfect time to revisit the wonderful series that was ground-breaking for my generation: Dawson’s Creek. GMA also has a touching memorial video that includes some of his last words to us all.
MUSIC
Charlie Puth: “National Anthem”
Charlie Puth’s Super Bowl performance of the National Anthem was absolutely wonderful and he even got Kenny G in there. Bad Bunny was also great with his special guests. There were also some sports during the broadcast but I don’t know who.
Charlie XCX: “Wuthering Heights”
“Chains of Love” has been haunting us for a minute but now we can listen to the whole thing.
Taylor Swift: “Opalite”
Taylor Swift has delivered a charming homage to the ‘80s and the search for love with the video for “Opalite.”
Bon weekend, all!
